The best pizza ever! This pizza is Paleo and AIP diet-compliant. The oregano cassava flour crust brings an Italian flavor which is delicious! You won’t even miss the cheese.
It’s been years since I ate a pizza. So long, I don’t even remember the last time I ate a pizza.
Well, that’s all changed!
I never tried making a paleo pizza before, I thought it would be too complicated or it wouldn’t taste the same.
You know what?
This pizza is delicious! I found that the easy way to achieving the best pizza was by using simple ingredients that I already had.
I like to stick with simple ingredients. Usually ingredients I already have like cassava flour, arrowroot flour, extra virgin olive oil, baking soda, and seasonings.
Making the Pizza
I discovered adding a tiny bit of apple cider vinegar to the baking soda helps to make the recipe more “fluffier.” I match the baking soda and the apple cider vinegar evenly, 1/8 teaspoon of each.
Add all dry ingredients and the apple cider vinegar into a mixing bowl and combine until well blended.
- 1 cup cassava flour
- 1/2 cup arrowroot flour
- 1/2 tsp. sea salt
- 1/4 onion powder
- 1/4 tsp. cream of tarter
- 1/8 tsp. baking powder
- 3 tsp. oregano
- 1/8 tsp. apple cider vinegar
Then mix the 3/4 cup of warm water and 4 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil. If the dough is a little sticky, add a little bit of cassava flour. If the dough is dry add a little more olive oil.
Roll the pizza dough out on parchment paper then place onto a baking sheet. Or use a pizza stone like the one I’m using in the photo above. I’ve owned this pizza stone for many years and it always cooks the pizza evenly.
Once the pizza is rolled out, add about 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil and spread it evenly over the top of the pizza crust.
You can add any meat you prefer, I like to use Applegate Turkey Bacon. I don’t eat pork because pigs eat anything. They not only eat plants and bugs but they also eat inedible food.
Meaning, that pigs eat everything including trash. Not that farmers are feeding pigs trash but pigs will eat whatever they can get including food waste.
As the saying goes, you are what you eat. If they are eating inedible food then that is what you are eating when you eat them.
Also, pigs are notoriously known to have higher rates of parasites. – Another reason to avoid pork.
Okay, back to the pizza!
Cook the bacon on the stovetop while you are cutting up your vegetables.
Dice your favorite vegetables and add them to the pizza crust:
- Broccoli
- Leeks
- Radishes (thinly sliced)
- Red cabbage (thinly sliced)
- Red onions
- Spinach
You could also add:
- Mushrooms (avoid for candida diet and low mold diet)
- Olives
- Sweet bell peppers (nightshade)
- Tomatoes (nightshade)
- Zucchini (lectin)
- Or any vegetable you want!
Sprinkle seasonings on top such as basil, garlic powder, parsley, oregano, thyme.
Once the bacon is done and cooled cut the bacon into small pieces and add to the pizza.
Now it’s ready to bake!
Bake the pizza for about 15-20 minutes at 300º F. Depending on what you used to place the pizza on will determine how long it stays in the oven.
Once it’s done it will look the same as when you put it in the oven so it will be a little hard to tell if it’s done. I usually take the pizza out and cut it into 8 slices then pull a slice out. Be careful not to burn your fingers!
If it’s still sticky in the middle I place it back in the oven for another 5 minutes.
Don’t overbake the pizza or the crust will dry out and become too hard to eat.
