A refreshing power green smoothie including sweet fruit. This nutrient-dense smoothie is so delicious, you won’t even taste the kale.
I’ve been eating a nutrient-dense diet including lots of vegetables every day. To get all those vegetables in, I’ve also been drinking a nutrient-dense green smoothie. It includes a variety of dark leafy greens including carrots.
My husband discovered a new salad blend in the organic section and bought it for me. The name is “Power Greens.” I immediately thought this would make a good base for a green smoothie.
The power greens include organic spinach, kale, collards, and carrots. Since they came in a pre-mixed container, it is very quick and easy to grab a big handful and put it in the blender.
If you can’t find these Power Greens in your area, you could buy a different mix of greens. It’s a good idea to rotate your salad blend so you get a wider variety. You can also buy each vegetable individually but I find the container quicker and easier.
Now, I needed a good combination of fruit so it didn’t taste like I was eating grass. Since I’m also regulating my blood sugar, I didn’t want a smoothie with lots of fruit. I added a few frozen strawberries since they are lower in sugar.
After a couple of tries, I came up with the perfect combination! A half-frozen banana, three frozen strawberries, one date, and the power greens. The outcome was a delicious-tasting green smoothie. Plus, it’s packed with lots of nutrients from the different vegetables.
I’ve been trying to find the best coconut milk without guar gum and BPA-free and still tastes good. I could make my own but I’m looking for convenience. Unfortunately, it’s not that easy!
Until I found Golden Star Coconut Milk. It’s in a BPA-free can plus the ingredients are coconut milk and water. (You will need to shake it since the milk will be solid inside the can.) It’s not organic but it’s not on the Environmental Working Group’s “Dirty Dozen list” for pesticides.
My husband likes more fruit so I add more strawberries and an extra date. I don’t add a lot of fruit to mine but you can adjust it to your own taste. The recipe below includes more fruit.
