Today we are drowning in toxins.
Toxins are everywhere – you can’t escape them. They make our lives more convenient but they are making us sick. Some such as mercury are a neurotoxin that is poisonous to nerve tissue. Toxins sneak their way into our everyday lives without us knowing.
They lurk in the furniture we lounge on, the clothes we wear next to our skin, and the foods we consume. Even the water we drink can harbor toxins. And if that weren’t enough, toxins, including heavy metals and pesticides, are drifting down from the sky. Insecticides are sprayed into the air for mosquito control – you’re breathing this!
I live in a rural area so you would think it was safe. However, rural areas are not safe from toxins. There are agricultural areas that use pesticides and herbicides. During the summer months, we have to worry about wildfires. The sky is usually covered with smoke and toxins making it difficult to see and breathe. Air pollution circles the Earth – it doesn’t matter where you live.
Radiation from Japan’s 2011 tsunami/nuclear accident rained down over Boise, Idaho. You would think it would land on the U.S. west coast but it didn’t. Boise is over 500 miles from the Pacific Ocean! These radioactive toxins could have fallen anywhere. Pollution affects the air regardless of where you live.
When I was a kid we would eat freshly fallen snow. I would never do that today due to the harmful pollutants and bacteria. Even pristine mountain snow collects pollutants in the atmosphere.
Escaping Toxins
In this modern age, escaping toxins seems like an impossible feat. They infiltrate every aspect of our lives, silently challenging our bodies’ resilience. It’s no wonder chronic diseases are on the rise. NCBI (a U.S. health database) predicts a 99.5% increase in chronic diseases by 2050.
When my son was very young I took him shopping with me and I placed him in the shopping cart. Unfortunately, he wouldn’t stop putting his mouth on the shopping cart handle. Because he wouldn’t stop, I eventually took him out of the cart but it was too late. A couple of days later there was a report on the news there was an outbreak of hand, foot, and mouth disease at that store. – You guessed it, he caught it.
Shopping carts, door knobs, toilets, faucets, and shared computers are places where bacteria thrive. Streptococcal, commonly known as strep, links to MS. Did you use to get a lot of sore throats or strep throat? Then you have the strep bacteria living in your body. Streptococcal can cause sore throats, acne, and UTIs which is a common issue in people with multiple sclerosis (MS).
The cause of MS is due to:
- Poor Diet
- Infections (bacteria, parasites, and viruses)
- Environmental toxins (heavy metals, mold, pesticides, etc.)
- Chronic stress
- Hormones (adrenaline, cortisol, etc.)
A 20-year study found Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is the main cause of MS. However, EBV is not the only factor. Another study released in 2024, found common household products damage and kill oligodendrocytes. Oligodendrocytes are cells that build myelin. – These common household products such as your smartphone, contain damaging toxins!
Do you get an MRI with contrast?
The contrast used with MRIs has heavy metals in it! If you do, drink lots of filtered water afterward to help flush the heavy metals out.
Although it’s small amounts dental X-rays have radiation. If you get a lot of dental work, it adds up. The same goes for every time you use your smartphone (they release a small amount of radiation). Radiation stays in your body and passes down several generations. It’s not only what you were exposed to but also your ancestors.

Maybe you’ve wondered, “Could detoxing really make a difference for me?” The answer is yes, your body and brain could use a good detox from toxins. There are many detoxes or cleanses to choose from. Make sure you don’t get caught up in one that will cost you thousands of dollars and show no results.
What if I told you that you can get started today for free?
This path isn’t about quick fixes or empty promises, it’s extremely hard. You’ll empower yourself with knowledge, taking steps toward a brighter tomorrow! It’s about taking natural approaches to detox and freeing your body and brain from toxins.
Steps to Escaping Toxins
First, you need to realize that you’re dealing with toxins around you and toxins you were born with. Mercury was once commonly used but they started realizing it’s extremely toxic. Mercury is now banned in many products but it’s is still in use today. Medications like the flu vaccine include a mercury-based preservative. Mercury passes from generation to generation. An ancestor may have used mercury as medicine.
When I was in grade school I had a teacher that had each student hold mercury in their hand to see it rolled around. – Yep, I held mercury!
It’s not just mercury, it also includes other heavy metals such as aluminum, lead, arsenic, and cadmium. Household cleaners, air fresheners, body care products, and food have toxic chemicals. As I said earlier, we’re surrounded by toxins.
These toxins damage your brain and central nervous system. They weaken your immune system and cause neurological symptoms. But, you can remove these toxins and reverse your symptoms. And I’m about to tell you how!
Steps to healing:
- Prioritize nutrition
- Incorporate regular exercise
- Take time for self-care
- Choose a clean environment
- Handle stress effectively
Detoxing Safely

Start eating an anti-inflammatory diet. Eat lots of fruits, vegetables, herbs, and spices. Don’t be afraid to eat fruit, it does not spike your blood sugar. Include foods that are anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-parasitic, and anti-viral. Drink plenty of filtered water to stay hydrated and flush toxins out.
Try these detox beverages:
Use products that use natural ingredients. The Environmental Working Group’s website has lots of tips. To help you navigate all the information on their website check out my pages:
Stop using plastic, scented candles, and dryer sheets. Wash new clothes, bedding, and towels before using them to avoid chemicals. Buy organic produce as much as possible to avoid pesticides. Wear a face mask and wear gloves when getting fuel. – Every little thing you do helps!
Detox, Detox, Detox!
Detox your brain and body from pathogens, heavy metals, and stress. Be careful not to overdo it, your body can only handle so much. Go slow to keep your body relaxed and not overloaded. Remember, you’re trying to heal your central nervous system.
Eat a wide range of fruits and vegetables to get as many nutrients as possible. Blueberries are beneficial for the brain, wild blueberries are even better. They have two times more antioxidants than conventionally grown blueberries. Include these into your diet every day, you can find them in the freezer section in most grocery stores.
Cherries contain phytochemical agents that help repair nerve damage. They also have potassium, vitamin C, and fiber which are important for nerve function. Dark cherries are best because they protect against cellular damage. However, don’t eat too many cherries at once, they’re nature’s laxative.
Include herbs such as cilantro, garlic, ginger, lemon balm, onions, and turmeric. Eat a low-fat diet, whether it comes from animal foods or plant foods such as avocados. Eat gluten-free flour recipes and beans occasionally or not at all – they don’t heal your body.
As soon as you wake up rinse your mouth and spit it out – don’t swallow it! Bad bacteria accumulate in your mouth while you’re sleeping because your body produces less saliva. Saliva kills bacteria that can cause inflammation and infections. Also, brush your teeth and floss before going to bed to help keep your mouth clean.
Foods to eat a lot of include:
- Fruits
- Vegetables
- Herbs and spices
Foods to eat in moderation:
- Healthy fats/oils
- Nuts and seeds
- Grass-fed meats
- Pasture-raised poultry
- Wild-caught fish (not wild Atlantic salmon)
- Wild game (e.g. duck, elk, rabbit)

Help your liver detox so it doesn’t get overloaded. Eat small amounts throughout the day to keep your blood sugar level. Eat healthy foods, drink filtered water, get plenty of sleep, and reduce your stress. Many studies found stress damages tissue including the liver. Exercise is another way to detox your body and brain, it releases feel-good hormones. Plus, it keeps you strong and mobile.
Here are some ways to exercise when living with MS:
- Massage
- Online gyms for people with MS, my favorite is OptimalBody Personal Fitness
- Resistance bands
- Stretching
- Swimming
- Tai chi
- Walking
- Water exercises
- Yoga

Detoxing takes a lot of work and effort. Load up on foods that remove toxins, including supplements like Cat’s Claw and Spirulina. Take vitamin C to help boost your immune system. I take SOLARAY Vitamin C with Rose Hips and Acerola Bioflavonoids (both help the body to use vitamin C more effectively).
For people with MS it’s recommended to take a higher dose of vitamin C, I take 3,000mg twice a day. Be careful though, high doses of vitamin C can cause diarrhea. It’s best to start with a lower dose and work your way up. If you start to get loose stools, lower your dosage.
NOTE: Talk to your doctor before starting a new supplement. Supplements can interfere with certain medications.
Living with MS puts you in a survival mode so you have to take care of yourself. Try not to get stressed by taking time out in the day to relax your nerves. Find a relaxing spot, close your eyes, and tell your body to relax. I do this relaxing in my recliner with my infrared light shining on me. It’s extremely relaxing while removing inflammation. Here’s the infrared light I own: Beurer IL50 Infrared Heat Lamp Heated Red Light Therapy Lamp.
Don’t listen to negative people! It is possible to heal – you can do this!
