Smoked salmon on the grill is moist, quick, and easy! The slight smokey taste is packed with so much flavor that you will love it.
If you haven’t tried grilling with a cedar plank, you are in for a delicious meal that will quickly become a new favorite. The combined smokey flavor from the cedar wood and the wild-caught salmon are so perfect together you will never want to prepare it any other way.
Salmon is a fantastic source of Omega-3 fatty acids which helps prevent inflammation, making it a great choice for those with multiple sclerosis. You’ll want to make sure that you buy wild-caught salmon and not farm-raised, you can eat it with or without the skin.
Buying Cedar Planks
First, you will need to locate some cedar planks, you can find them at some local grocery stores or hardware stores like Home Depot You can also buy them online from Amazon, they come in many different sizes just pick the size that best fits your needs. Make sure the cedar planks are free from chemicals and are specifically for grilling.
You will need to soak your planks in water for one to two hours to keep them from catching on fire. Just submerge them under water in your sink and add some weight to keep them under the water.
Once your cedar planks are ready, pre-heat your grill on medium to medium-high to about 350°F. Then place the wet cedar planks on your grill, don’t place it over the direct heat. Grill for about 10 minutes or until they start to smoke.
Keep an eye on it because it’s easy for the planks to catch on fire. If they do catch on fire, no need to worry just pour a little water on it until the flames are out.
The smoked salmon is delicious alone or with sea salt and fresh ground pepper. You can also add some dill, rosemary, or whichever seasoning you prefer. Add your salmon on top of the planks and close the lid to keep the smoke inside. Check on it often, it cooks quickly so it’s easy for the salmon to dry out.
As it’s cooking the planks release a one-of-kind smokey flavor into your salmon. Grill the salmon for about 15 minutes. There’s no need to turn the fish over, once it’s flakey (test with a fork) it’s ready to eat!
