Candy canes are a popular holiday tradition. These sweet, peppermint-flavored treats are enjoyed as festive treats every holiday season.
But, with ingredients like sugar, corn syrup, and red dye #40 it doesn’t sound very appealing. So, I started thinking… what could I use instead to create that candy cane flavor?
Red = Strawberries
White = Banana and Almond Milk
Peppermint = Peppermint Extract
The perfect combination for a smoothie!
It’s like a festive celebration in a glass! Imagine the refreshing burst of peppermint perfectly balanced with the sweetness of frozen berries. It’s not only delicious but also guilt-free, made with all plant-based goodness. You’ve got to try it – it’s like a holiday party for your taste buds!
Here it is – a plant-based candy cane smoothie recipe:
Ingredients:
- 1 frozen ripe banana
- 1 cup frozen strawberries
- 1 cup unsweetened or homemade almond milk
- 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
- Handful of ice cubes (optional)
Instructions:
- Place all ingredients in a blender.
- Blend on high until smooth and creamy.
- Add ice cubes (if needed) and blend again until the smoothie reaches your desired consistency.
- Pour into a glass and enjoy your refreshing candy cane smoothie!
This recipe is naturally sweetened by the fruits and contains no artificial ingredients. Adjust the thickness by adding more or less almond milk. Customize the peppermint flavor to your liking.
TIP: When your bananas are a little over-ripe (not too over-ripe) cut them up and freeze them for future recipes like this.
