Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune disease that attacks the brain and spinal cord. It is estimated there are more than 2.5 million people who are affected by MS worldwide. There is a very good possibility that you or someone you know is living with MS.
There is no “cure” for multiple sclerosis. But if you look up the word “cure” it means: “relieve (a person or animal) of the symptoms of a disease or condition.” Then yes, you can put MS into remission and relieve yourself of the symptoms.
Plus, researchers are getting closer than ever to finding a cure. Earlier in 2022, a 20-year study found Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is the leading cause of MS. They found MS developed after an EBV infection. If a vaccine comes out to stop EBV that may be the end of MS.

When first diagnosed with MS neurologists strongly recommend starting one of the MS drugs available. Unfortunately, standard medical treatments for MS are toxic and don’t always work. My neurologist told me “If they work, they work 33% of the time.” Those are extremely poor odds!
On top of that, they cause many side effects. Including flu-like symptoms, cancer, bacterial infections, suicidal thoughts even death. MS patients spend an average of $60,000 per year on medications alone. That doesn’t include doctor visits, over-the-counter pain relievers (like aspirin), MRI, or physical therapy. Plus, NONE of these medications stop the progression of MS, they only slow it down “if they work.” There are 5 tips to reverse MS at the bottom of this post.
“Conventional therapies for MS are based on the use of anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory drugs, but these treatments are not able to stop the destruction of nerve tissue.” – PubMed
Causes of MS
Today, researchers are getting closer than ever to what is causing MS. In a recent study, researchers discovered increases in certain bacteria associated with inflammation in people with MS. The NMSS is currently funding a larger study to research this more. This may lead to the development of probiotic strategies for stopping the progression.
Why people with MS have an unbalance of good to bad bacteria is still known. For some, it was caused by the overuse of antibiotics wiping out the good bacteria and allowing a yeast overgrowth (Candida) to take over. Since every person is different, there’s not going to be one answer.
Possible triggers to the onset of MS:
- Poor Diet
- Infections (bacteria, parasites, viruses, and yeast overgrowth)
- Environmental toxins (heavy metals, mold, pesticides, etc.)
- Chronic stress
- Hormones (adrenaline, cortisol, etc.)
Natural Remedies
What your neurologist isn’t going to tell you – it is possible to put your MS into remission using food as your medicine. Not only put it into remission but also reverse some of your symptoms.
Some doctors may even tell you that it won’t work. That’s exactly what my drug pusher, oops – neurologist told me as he kept pushing his drugs. What made me mad was when I discovered he was getting paid by the pharmaceutical company to push their medications. It made me wonder if he cared about his patients or if was he just looking to make extra money.
It may surprise you to learn that removing foods and toxins that are causing damage to the gut, allows the body to heal and stop the progression of MS. Unfortunately doctors aren’t trained in the importance of the gut microbiome, instead they keep prescribing medications only as a quick fix or band-aid.
Leaky Gut Syndrome
Normally the gut lining is tight but as it breaks down the junctions begin to open. This allows toxins, yeast, bad bacteria, and undigested food particles to enter the bloodstream.
Poor diet, antibiotics, stress, and toxins are major players in the breakdown of a healthy gut. Over time this leads to chronic inflammation and an immune reaction weakening the immune system. Unfortunately, as the damage continues wreaking havoc over many years, it eventually progresses to an autoimmune disease.
Physicians see MS as an autoimmune disease affecting only the nervous system. In reality, it’s affecting the entire body starting with the gut. Hippocrates said, over 2,000 years ago, “All disease begins in the gut.”
Early Leaky Gut Symptoms:
- Abdominal pain
- Food allergies/intolerances
- Digestive issues
- Skin problems like eczema or acne
- Chronic fatigue
- Nutritional deficiencies
- Weakened immune system
- and many others
Treatments
By the time a person gets to the stage of having MS, there are a lot of problems going on inside the body. Some people, not only have one autoimmune disease but they have two or more autoimmune diseases.
For now, there is no cure for multiple sclerosis but don’t get discouraged. It is possible to put your autoimmune disease into remission and possibly reverse your symptoms. Even I was shocked when my heat intolerance disappeared after suffering for over ten years.
This is going to take time and commitment, it won’t happen overnight. It could even take years depending on your circumstances. However, if you don’t start today you will wish you had a year from now.

Remove what is harming your body
Diet –
Remove all processed foods including refined sugar, refined carbohydrates, artificial colors, or preservatives. Read the ingredient labels, if you don’t know what it is – don’t eat it. You will also need to remove all foods that cause any allergies or sensitivities. The most common allergies are gluten, dairy, eggs, peanuts, soy, shellfish, nightshades, and chocolate.
Start an elimination diet for other potential sensitivities. Remove certain food items for at least one month then reintroduce them back, and watch for any reactions. Wait a few days before reintroducing another food item. If there is a reaction, stop eating it.
Infections –
Bacterial and yeast overgrowth, viruses, parasites, and other toxins are contributors to a leaky gut. Bad bacteria and yeast overgrowth feed on sugar, even natural sugars. It’s best to follow a Candida diet which is a low-sugar and low-carbohydrate diet, that includes natural sweeteners.
In addition, use a combination of antifungal herbs and supplements. Such as caprylic acid, oil of oregano, raw garlic, and pau d’arco tea. Coconut oil is an excellent source of caprylic acid.
Environmental Toxins –
Toxins are everywhere from the air we breathe, the body products we put on ourselves, to the food and water we consume. Such as plastics, herbicides (Roundup), pesticides, flooring, shower curtains, furniture, shampoos, deodorants, toothpaste, etc.
It’s impossible to avoid all chemicals but it will help to remove as many as possible. You can start by purchasing organic fruits and vegetables. Buy or make as many natural body care products as possible. Make your own green cleaning products using natural ingredients also buy an air purifier and water filter.
Stress –
Stress plays a HUGE role in MS and can even cause a flare. Learn techniques to remove stress. For example, yoga, deep breathing, meditation and even taking walks outdoors help.
