Sweetener (e.g., honey, maple syrup), vanilla extract, or dates for flavoroptional
Instructions
Place the almonds in a bowl and cover them with water. Let them soak overnight or for at least 12 hours.
After soaking, drain and rinse the almonds under cool running water.
In a blender, combine the soaked almonds and 4 cups of water. Blend on high speed for 2 minutes until the mixture is well combined.
Place a nut milk bag, cheesecloth, or a fine mesh strainer over a bowl or jug. Pour the almond mixture through the strainer to separate the liquid from the almond pulp.
If using a nut milk bag or cheesecloth, squeeze or press to extract as much liquid as possible. This is your almond milk.
Add sweetener, vanilla extract, or dates to the almond milk for flavor. Blend again if necessary.
Pour the almond milk into a jar or bottle and refrigerate. Shake well before using, as it may separate over time.
Notes
If you are using dates as a sweetener soak them for a few hours to soften.
