Prep Time 10 minutes
Servings 4

Equipment

  • 1 Nut Bag

Ingredients

  • 1 cup raw almonds soaked overnight for 12-24 hours
  • 4 cups filterd water more to thin, less to thicken
  • Sweetener (e.g., honey, maple syrup), vanilla extract, or dates for flavor optional

Instructions

  • Place the almonds in a bowl and cover them with water. Let them soak overnight or for at least 12 hours.
  • After soaking, drain and rinse the almonds under cool running water.
  • In a blender, combine the soaked almonds and 4 cups of water. Blend on high speed for 2 minutes until the mixture is well combined.
  • Place a nut milk bag, cheesecloth, or a fine mesh strainer over a bowl or jug. Pour the almond mixture through the strainer to separate the liquid from the almond pulp.
  • If using a nut milk bag or cheesecloth, squeeze or press to extract as much liquid as possible. This is your almond milk.
  • Add sweetener, vanilla extract, or dates to the almond milk for flavor. Blend again if necessary.
  • Pour the almond milk into a jar or bottle and refrigerate. Shake well before using, as it may separate over time.

Notes

If you are using dates as a sweetener soak them for a few hours to soften.
