Protect Your Rights
Today, there are more protective rights than there were when I was first diagnosed. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is a civil rights law that prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities. If you find yourself in a situation that is discriminating against you visit their website at the Americans With Disabilities National Network.

Love Taopatch
In December 2021 I started wearing small patches on my body called Taopatch. The patches are wearable nanotechnology device that combines acupuncture with light therapy. It is powered by your natural body heat.
The patches help people with MS improve their balance, fatigue, mobility, posture, and emotional wellness. They also reduce anxiety, pain, spasticity, and stiffness.
I was reluctant to buy it at first, since I’ve been living with MS for decades I wasn’t sure the patches would benefit me. Plus, they are expensive. But, since they have a 90-day money-back guarantee and they last 2 to 2.5 years I decided to try it.
After 10 minutes of wearing two patches from the “Start” pack, I was able to lift my legs twice as high! You can see in the video the difference. This is honestly what happened, I was so amazed it brought tears to my eyes.
Everyone is different and you may have different results. I am glad I bought it but if I had to do it over I would have bought the Pro or Platinum pack first. If you are interested check out their website here: Taopatch.
Online Exercise Program for MS
OptimalBody Personal Fitness
David Lyons is the owner of OptimalBody Personal Fitness. He has over 40 years of experience in fitness and has a new MS fitness/exercise program through a membership. He also has multiple sclerosis so he knows what it is like living with MS.
David is the top MS trainer in the world and has received various awards for his accomplishments in health and fitness for MS. He was named “Most Dedicated MS Fitness Expert in the U.S.” three years in a row.
This is a very comprehensive program for any level of MS including people in wheelchairs. This is not a bodybuilding program instead, it involves resistant training which is the best form of exercise for overcoming MS limitations.
I HIGHLY recommend signing up for OptimalBody Personal Fitness paid membership to fight MS.
You will need to buy resistance bands and loop bands. I got my Resistance Bands Resistance Bands and Loop Bands from Amazon. Make sure your resistance bands have a Door Anchor otherwise, you need to buy one.
Blood Tests
For blood tests, I use an online lab called Walk-In Lab. It’s easy to use and you don’t need a doctor’s prescription. You order whatever blood test you need online, visit a local lab for the blood draw then wait for an email with your results. I found this is more convenient and less expensive than going through my doctor and insurance.
Blood work I’ve received includes:
- 25-hydroxy vitamin D test checks your vitamin D level – the optimal level is between 60-80 ng/mL
- A1C also known as the hemoglobin A1C or HbA1c test, the test measures your average blood sugar levels over the past 3 months – the optimal level is below 5.3
- CRP checks the level of inflammation that is in your body – the optimal level is 0.80 mg/L or lower
- Homocysteine checks to see if you have a vitamin B6, B12, or folic acid deficiency – the optimal level is between 6-9 umol/L
Books I Recommend
I have read every one of these books and found each one extremely helpful. Each author gives a good explanation of what causes autoimmune diseases and how to put them into remission.
- The Wahls Protocol – Terry Wahls, M.D.
- Healing Multiple Sclerosis – Ann Boroch, CNC
- Beat Autoimmune – Palmer Kippola
- The Paleo Approach – Sarah Ballantyne, PhD
- Practical Paleo – Diane Sanfilippo, BS, NC
- The Autoimmune Solution – Amy Myers, M.D.
Other books about MS:
Multiple Sclerosis, Fifth Edition: A Guide for the Newly Diagnosed
Overcoming Multiple Sclerosis: The Evidence-Based 7 Step Recovery Program
The Multiple Sclerosis Diet Book: A Low-Fat Diet for the Treatment of M.S.
Watch the Documentary Living Proof by Matt Embry
Living Proof is a documentary by filmmaker and MS activist Matt Embry who also has MS. In this film, Matt discusses his own personal experiences managing MS with diet. He also talks to others about how they manage their own MS.
DNA Testing
A DNA test from 23andMe Health + Ancestry can show you how your body functions and why. This is how I found out I had a three times higher risk for MS, a higher sensitivity to mold illness, a hard time absorbing vitamin D, and trouble detoxing.

Minding your mitochondria | Dr. Terry Wahls | TEDxIowaCity
In this video, Dr. Terry Wahls talks about how she put her MS into remission. By eating a nutrient-dense diet she was able to get out of her wheelchair and live a normal life again.
Cooling Products
Many people with MS are heat-sensitive. Cooling your body can help lessen the negative effects of heat and humidity. Thankfully, the MSAA Cooling Distribution Program offers cooling vests and accessories for people diagnosed with multiple sclerosis at no charge to people who qualify for assistance.
Check them out before the hot weather gets here: MSAA Cooling Distribution Program
Amazon Prime for MS
Amazon Prime is a great resource for people living with MS. It allows you to shop at home with zero shipping costs. It also comes with free movies, free music, Prime Day (a day for extra savings), and more.
You can sign up for a free 30-day trial membership. You can always cancel your membership at any time.
Another benefit is Alexa, Amazon’s cloud-based voice service. Perfect for people who struggle with walking, have weakness in their hands, or are in a wheelchair.
Ways Alexa can help MS patients with disabilities:
- Ask Alexa for recipe tips such as “How many tablespoons are in a 1/4 cup?”
- Call someone from your contact list who is also using an Echo Dot or Show
- Catch up on the latest scores from sports teams
- Control a smart thermostat
- Find out your local news or weather
- Have Alexa check your smart door lock
- Listen to music
- Open and close your smart blinds
- Read virtual books
- Set an alarm or timer
- Shop on Amazon
- Turn lights on and off
- Use smart plugs to turn things on and off like your Christmas tree
I have both an Alexa Dot in my living room and an Alexa Show in my kitchen. My husband and I use both of them all the time. We have Alexa automatically turn lights on when the sun sets, open and close our blinds, and listen to our favorite football team play. We plan to continue to add more Alexa control devices throughout our home.
To learn more check out Alexa features on Amazon, you can download Alexa here Amazon Alexa.
